Quntis Product Update
Adjustable backlight controls are being introduced to updated versions of selected Quntis Glow Series monitor light bars, adding stepless brightness adjustment and four backlight color temperature settings.
A change inspired by feedback
Through product reviews, support conversations, and community discussions, we heard from some customers who wanted the backlight on Quntis monitor light bars to be adjustable, just like the front light. That feedback led to a practical update. In newly produced versions of selected models, the backlight brightness can now be adjusted, while four color temperature settings make it easier to match the light to different times of day and room conditions.
What has changed
Single-click
Turn the backlight on or off.
Press and hold
Adjust the backlight brightness smoothly instead of relying on one fixed intensity.
Double-click
Switch between four backlight color temperatures: 3000 K, 4000 K, 5000 K, and 6500 K.
The updated controls allow the backlight to adapt to changes in ambient lighting throughout the day. A brighter or cooler setting may suit daytime use, while a lower or warmer setting may be more comfortable in darker environments.

Important availability note
The updated versions have been rolling out since July 2026. During the transition from earlier inventory, availability may vary by model, product variation, and marketplace.
Before purchasing, check that the individual product listing specifically states adjustable backlight brightness and four backlight color temperatures. If those features are not stated on a listing, the update should not be assumed to be included.
Product verification
Before production, the updated design underwent internal functional and real-world usage testing to ensure stable performance and reliable control behavior.
Internal functional testing
The R&D team verified the core control logic after the PCB revision, focusing on:
- Single-click response for stable backlight power control
- Press-and-hold dimming smoothness and linearity
- Double-click color temperature switching accuracy
- Accurate switching between 3000 K, 4000 K, 5000 K and 6500 K
- Control stability during repeated and closely timed button inputs
During testing, the double-click recognition timing was optimized to prevent the input from being interpreted as repeated single clicks. Firmware adjustments were also made to support stable input recognition.
User experience testing
We recruited a group of internal users (including designers, programmers, and content creators) who used the product in real desk environments for 3 months and provided feedback. The main areas tested were:
1. Press-and-Hold Dimming Control
Early testing showed that the initial dimming cycle was too fast, making it difficult for users to stop at their preferred brightness level.
The dimming speed was subsequently reduced, and a brief easing near the minimum and maximum brightness levels was added. These adjustments provide greater control and make brightness selection more precise.
2. Button Durability
Because brightness adjustment may involve repeated press-and-hold operations, the control button was evaluated for extended daily use.
Based on an estimated five to ten dimming operations per day, a user may perform about 1,825 to 3,650 press-and-hold operations per year. Mechanical lifecycle testing confirmed that the selected switch supports more than 50,000 actuations. The electrical contacts were also evaluated to confirm stable performance during repeated operation.
3. PWM Driver Thermal Stability
Stepless dimming is controlled through pulse-width modulation (PWM), which regulates the current supplied to the LEDs.
Thermal testing was conducted with the backlight operating continuously at approximately 5% brightness for eight hours. Additional testing was completed in ambient temperatures above 35°C to represent warmer enclosed workspaces.
Under both conditions, the driver-board temperature remained within the defined operating range.
4. LED Brightness Retention
The backlight LEDs were evaluated under different operating patterns to assess brightness stability over time.
One test unit operated continuously at approximately 30% brightness. A second unit operated at full brightness in repeated cycles of three hours on and 30 minutes off. After three months of testing, both units retained more than 99% of their measured initial brightness.
5. Standby Power Consumption
Since the remote control remains in standby for most of its operating time, standby current is an important factor in battery life.
Testing identified that switching components in an earlier version continued to consume power while the remote was inactive. The circuit was revised so that these components also power down during extended standby, reducing static current consumption to the microampere range.
Following an extended period of inactivity, the first press reactivates the remote and the second press turns on the light. This behavior is part of the revised power-saving design.
6. Low-Battery Response
The remote control was also tested to ensure predictable operation as battery voltage declined.
At 1.0 V, close to battery depletion, the same control operation was repeated 100 times. The final design achieved an execution accuracy of 98%.
Testing showed that input accuracy decreased sharply at approximately 0.5 V. To prevent unstable behavior during normal use, the low-voltage lockout threshold was increased. This allows the remote to maintain more consistent control response before battery replacement is required.
Key optimizations included:
- An improved dimming curve for more precise brightness control
- Enhanced switch durability for repeated daily use
- Stable PWM performance during extended low-brightness operation
- Optimized standby power consumption for improved efficiency
- Refined low-voltage response to maintain consistent input accuracy
Final validation outcome
After iterative adjustments, the final version achieved stable control response, reliable electrical performance, and consistent behavior across different usage conditions.
